What the figures show
The rate was 39.0 per 100,000 in 2000 and 32.2 in 2019, a change of −17.4%. The highest estimate in the series was 39.3 in 2001.
About this data
These are WHO estimates (World Bank indicator SH.STA.TRAF.P5). WHO adjusts for deaths that are not recorded as road deaths in police or hospital data, so its estimates are higher than the counts published by Thai agencies, which use different sources and definitions. The series published by the World Bank currently ends in 2019. WHO's more recent Global Status Report on Road Safety uses a revised method and is not comparable with this series, so it is not combined with it here.

Methodology
SP.DYN.LE00.IN: Life expectancy at birth indicates the number of years a newborn infant would live if prevailing patterns of mortality at the time of its birth were to stay the same throughout its life. SP.DYN.TFRT.IN: Total fertility rate represents the number of children that would be born to a woman if she were to live to the end of her childbearing years and bear children in accordance with age-specific fertility rates of the specified year. SH.STA.TRAF.P5: Mortality caused by road traffic injury is estimated road traffic fatal injury deaths per 100,000 population.
World Bank WDI figures are revised when the World Bank or the underlying national and UN sources revise them; the retrieval date is shown.
Life expectancy and fertility are estimates from the UN World Population Prospects and national sources; road traffic deaths are WHO estimates, which adjust for under-reporting and are higher than police-recorded deaths. All can be revised back in time.
