Thailand Tourists by Nationality

Malaysia was the largest source of international tourist arrivals to Thailand in 2025, with 4.5 million arrivals (13.7% of the total), followed by China (4.5 million) and India (2.5 million), according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

About this data

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports publishes arrivals by nationality in its monthly "International Tourist Arrivals to Thailand" releases. Visitors are classified by the nationality they hold, not the country they travel from. The ranking covers the 91 countries the ministry lists individually; arrivals it groups as "Other in …" a region are counted in the total but not ranked.

The shares use the ministry's total for all nationalities. All figures from 2020 onwards are preliminary and can be revised. Countries with their own page are linked in the tables; each page shows that market's arrivals by month and year and its rank over time.

Methodology

Rows of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports "International Tourist Arrivals to Thailand" releases for individual countries, as labelled by the publisher (nationality). Publisher labels are mapped to ISO 3166-1 codes; regional subtotals and "Other in …" residual rows are not included as countries. Values marked P are preliminary.

The publisher classifies visitors by nationality. A country's figure counts arrivals of that nationality, wherever they travel from.

Countries plus residual rows sum to the publisher's Grand Total; the residual rows are not shown as countries.

The 2020 and 2021 releases label South Korea as "Korea" and have no separate North Korea row.

Licence: the publisher does not state reuse terms (unconfirmed). Figures are republished as attributed statistical facts.

June 2026 excludes 22–25 June (publisher's recording system outage); comparisons involving it are not like-for-like.

2016–2018 are published without a preliminary marker; 2019 is marked R (revised); 2020 onwards are marked P (preliminary).

Annual values are the publisher's own totals, not sums calculated by ThailandStats.

No monthly figures are published in the releases located for 2020 and 2021; those months are absent, not estimated.

June 2026 excludes 22–25 June because of an outage in the publisher's recording system; comparisons involving it are not like-for-like.
